So, @TheTickTV is worth watching #AmazonPrimeVideo

This @ben_edlund ‏ Amazon Prime original series, starring @GriffLightning ‏, is chock full of laugh out loud moments. The Tick tire toss into the antagonist, Ramsey, the leader of a criminal underground band terrorizing the city, was so good we had to stop the show and record it. A sampling of our fellow citizens reviews:

In a world where superheroes have been real for decades, an accountant with mental health issues and zero powers comes to suspect his city is owned by a global super villain long-thought dead. As he struggles to uncover the conspiracy, he falls in league with a strange blue superhero. They launch into an adventure brimming with crazed archvillains, blood-soaked vigilantes, and superhuman freakery.

Season 1 of The Tick is broken into two mini seasons. The second part of season one will be aired sometime in early 2018.

The New @Netflix Show @Atypical is Antartica Cool

After scrounging around all summer looking for a new original series to fall in love with it turned out to be Atypcial.

Autism is a neurodevelopmental condition which affects the brain’s growth and development. It is a lifelong condition, with symptoms that appear in early childhood. Adults on the autism spectrum may struggle with social situations and ‘small talk’, thus appear rude or say things that others would not say. The term “spectrum” reflects the wide variation in challenges and strengths possessed by each person with autism.

Netflix brings us the story of Sam, a a high functioning 18-year old high school student in the spectrum. In season 1, Sam encounters the same challenges facing any adolescent navigating high school. He learns about what it feels like to fall in love and have your heart broken, and what it feels like to break a heart. But Sam learns his lessons through the prism of autism. It’s a tear-jerker at times. But Sam has a fantastic mom, dad, and sister, and super-cool friends. The show cracks you up between the eye-watering scenes. Along the way, we all learn about penguins and interesting factual information about Antarctica.

I rate this show 5 Stars. Absolutely fabulous.

Bosch Season 3 — @BoschAmazon — is Worth Watching

Season 3 starts off a bit slow. But the drama continues to build and build until the tenth episode climax.

Los Angeles murder detective Harry Bosch, played by @welliver_titus, faces scrutiny over an aggressive police investigation style. Bosch is relentless when a murderer is in his sights. Sometimes Bosch even pushes boundaries of the LAPD policies to gather evidence.

Bosch grew up as an orphan and knows the hard knocks associated with surviving in LA orphanages. In this season, he befriends a troubled 13 year old boy who witnessed a murder. Turns out the boy didn’t see much, but a security firm, staffed with former Iraq special forces operatives, don’t know that. The poor kid pays the price.

Bosch follows obscure clues and tracks down the killers. If you like police murder mystery shows, Season 3 is can’t miss TV.

Fortitude Season 2 Review

My wife and I just finished watching the @skyatlantic original series, Fortitude Season 2. The show is a science fiction murder mystery set in the tiny community way above the arctic circle in Svalbard, Norway.

My favorite part of the show is the beautiful photography and cinematography. The composition of scenes is consistently fabulous, and the scenic background is breathtaking. The production was just picked up by Amazon where I streamed the show. The writing and acting are also way above average. Congratulations to the Simon Donald for writing a gripping tale.

The story blends a mix of science and woo woo. It involves wasp larvae and DNA alteration to create humans with regenerative tissue, a material that leads even the most brilliant medical scientists into issues of questionable morality choices. One of those people effected by the wasp larvae is the charismatic sheriff, Dan Anderssen (pictured above, played by Irishman Richard Dormer, @richardormerfan). The Shaman, Vladek Klimov (played by @RobSheehanOrg), thinks Dan’s body has been taken over by the Demon. Science confirms Dan undergoes an internal battle for his DNA. The Shaman goes to rather extreme lengths to stop the Demon, leading to an intense police investigation of weird ritual  murders. But are they all committed by the Shaman? Maybe Big Pharma is behind some.

Caught between the crosswinds of spiritual and scientific forces is Dennis Quaid’s (@DasQuaid) character, Michael Lennox. Michael leans toward science to find a cure for his stricken and critically ill wife, Freya Lennox (played by Michelle Fairley). But Michelle tends toward the woo woo and seeks help from and trusts the Shaman to save her.

The show, filmed in the northern part of Iceland, is one that I cannot recommend highly enough. It is fantastic and you will probably binge stream both seasons if you haven’t seen season 1. I like to pace myself and watch one show a day. However you like to watch TV, Fortitude is a great TV show.

Patriot–@PatriotAmazon Series–Is Must Watch TV

Cut the cord.

This @PatriotAmazon tragic-comedy series is amazing. I’ll get to the acting and story soon. The most impressive aspect to me was some of the best, quirky folk music tunes I’ve heard in a long time. The music is Billy Braggish.

The star of Patriot, John (played by Michael Dorman), is an unlucky, very-sad, American spy. To deal with stress, John is compelled to sings stories about his otherwise clandestine activities. I mean you hear awesome songs like, Ducks, Dead Serious Rick, and Charles Gruden. Just the music makes this a must watch show.

The first season story is full of drama and laugh out loud moments as John faces obstacle after obstacle that arise as he strives to finish the mission of keeping nukes out of the hands of Iran. (The whole premise of a nuclear Iran is a farce in the first place.)

John’s cover is an industrial engineer in piping. His cover job is all about piping. Therefore, real and symbolic circles pop up throughout the story tormenting John as he struggles. The interplay between John’s work (his cover), job (as a spy), and dream of just being a singer and husband, make the story of John at once tragic and compellingly hilarious. The cast, including Lost’s Terry O’Quinn (as John’s evil, CIA father), is fantastic.

The final episode leaves John facing a cliff-hanger decision about his life. What will John do in Season2 of Patriot? You know he has to make the horrible choice to continue on in his role as a patriot. I cannot wait to stream this next year.
